So summer is over and, as said in a previous post, many of our holiday home members have left the area. However Burgundy Friends continues with meetings and events throughout autumn and winter.

Winding up the summer events in Autun
During this summer we lunched in Autun at the Promenade after petanque and the Golf Club after putting and the driving range. Both may happen periodically if the weather turns warm again.
Visit to Régéplastic
Today, eleven of us visited a plastics recycling factory in Arnay-le-Duc 😂. It’s where post-consumer waste and old car bumpers go to die. Our tour lasted about an hour and a half with lots of questions as we went round. Not your everyday day out – but it was really interesting 😃😃
Lunch was taken beforehand.

Bowling in Autun
10 Pin Bowling 6th September 2025
We met at the Bowling at Autun at 10.45am, we had the option of 1 or 2 games. We may have been on 3 lanes, in teams of 4 but we supported as if we were on one lane. The atmosphere was great, we all had fun, there were 2 watching which then became 3. After we went for lunch at the golf club, where we were joined by Eva for a short while, all were pleased to see her. We stretched out lunch to over two hours with great banter and good food. Hopefully we will repeat this during the winter months.

The weather was kind to us for our annual garden party. It was a lovely time with plenty of food provided by everyone. The setting was lovely, the ambience was great. Everyone had a wonderful time.

Hello, everyone,
Just to bring you up to date with our BF coffee morning yesterday, which was held at Le Grand Café in Autun. Some nice surprises – three new people came to join us! Plus one member who was last spotted in the late summer of 2022. There were 12 of us in all, battling with the acoustics of the café, which are a bit difficult for big groups. Still, we all had a great time chatting to new and old members. Golf seems to be a popular topic, so if anyone out there wants to play, we have a few people in the group who’d be interested.

Yesterday (Friday 9 February) we had yet another successful coffee/ lunch gathering, this time at The New St George in Autun; 13 BF members came for coffee, and 11 stayed for lunch. We have three new members, and one of them, Daniella, joined us for pre-lunch coffee.

Hello, everyone, and a very Happy New Year to all Burgundy Friends members from your Committee. We hope you’ve coped well with the cold snap (not in Australia), and all had an enjoyable Christmas.
You’ll be pleased to know that BF started off the New Year with a bang on Wednesday. We had another of the successful “Not Monday Men” coffee/ lunch meetings, this time at La Brasserie in Autun. What a place it is, too! Amazing food, and very reasonable prices. Eleven of us turned up, ten for lunch, and although the staff were a bit surprised they rallied round and found space for us – and not a minute too early, as it’s a very busy and popular eatery. Given the amount and standard of the food, and the excellent service, plus the reasonable prices, that’s not surprising, but it does show that it’s advisable to book!

With worries about the weather, the Annual Burgundy Friends Garden Party was successfully staged in the afternoon of 27th August 2023.
Despite confusion over the whereabouts of the marquee, the weather was kind and everyone brought plates to share, which were enjoyed by all as can be seen.
A little later than hoped by our international members who had sadly gone home to their respective countries, nonetheless it was held, the first since Covid.

Part two of the Burgundy Friends petanque took place at the Promenade des Marbes in Autun. A good number of members and friends arrived, teams chosen and play began
We ajourned, as before, to the nearby Brasserie de la Promenade for a small libation to celebrate the winner.
